Children’s Services and Programs at the Glendora Public Library

1. Services

Friendly library staff are available to help children with their reading and information needs. Children and their caregivers can come to the Children’s Room and ask for assistance. If they are working from home they can call (626)852-4891 or email us at library@glendoralibrary.org.

Display Case

There is a special display case in the Children’s room which displays interesting collections from individual children. In the past displays have included hats, marbles, baseball memorabilia, dolls, legos, and fossils. If you have an interesting collection that you want to put on display call (626)852-4891.

Children Volunteers

Children ages 10 and up can volunteer in the children’s room. Children volunteer during the calendar year and also during our Summer Reading Club. Those who are interested need to fill out a volunteer application or call (626)852-4891.

Tours

School classes and small groups can arrange to have a tour and storytime at the library. Call (626)852-4891 to arrange a tour.

Outreach

Children’s staff will go out to classrooms and small groups to provide storytimes, as time and staffing permit. Call (626)852-4891 to schedule a visit by a librarian.

2. Programs

A wide variety of fun programs are offered for children. We have weekly storytimes. There are annual events such as Dr. Seuss Birthday Party, Pirate’s Day, Creepy Cuisine, Spooky Stories, Decorate Gingerbread Houses, and Stories with Santa. In addition we offer Magic Shows, Animal Shows, many fun performers, craft workshops and movies (Calendar of events). Every summer there is a Summer Reading Club where children check out books from the library, read and report to earn free books and incentives.

Teen's Services and Programs at the Glendora Public Library

The Glendora Public Library is pleased to offer a variety of services to young adult. The young adult collection contains  4,900 items, including fiction, nonfiction, and reference titles. The library strives to meet the needs of young adults for both informational and popular titles. In addition to print sources, the library offers electronic resources that are available 24 hours a day through the Internet. These include informational databases, electronic books, and live help for homework and research. The library also offers several programs throughout the year specifically for young adults. These include an SAT workshop, a summer reading program, and a “teen read week” program. The library contains 15 public use computers that all patrons may use for 90 minutes a day with a library card. These computers have Internet access as well as office programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The library also offers volunteering opportunities for young adult patrons. The Glendora Pubic Library strives to offer programs and resources that meet the academic, recreational, and cultural needs of the young adult community.
